"Give me a reason
Why you hide away so much inside.
If there's a reason,
I don't know why."

Sitting in a tree is something I almost never do...and yet, I just did. Always a helpful experience, somehow. There is comfort to be found in clinging to the steady trunk of a tree, being a part of nature, away from it all. I must needs do it more often...

Read I Would I Were A Careless Child by Lord Byron--I love it! Philosophical...yearning...

"Though pleasure stirs the maddening soul,
The heart - the heart - is lonely still."

On another note, I watched The Brother's Grimm this afternoon...ugh, not recommended: VERY strange, simply no plot. Very dark and just ick with few redeeming qualities.
But then tonight, I watched The Corpse Bride and amazingly, THAT I very much enjoyed! Oh-so witty, entertaining, & whimsical. Lol, my tastes are certainly strange.......

Rain - June 2006

Let it weep
Weep for you
The rain pouring
Down your lonely face

Tears will not come
So let them fall
Fall from the sky
Into your eyes

Beware lightning’s illumination
It reveals more
More than one should see
Exposing the exposed

I caution against the luminosity
Of memories & faces
Their light is blinding
So linger here with care

The overhanging branch
Lashed you across the face
Sending down a shower
Of beaded droplets—oh memory…

Pardon me, as I leave
To wander here
And there, wondering
Why I cannot find you

I took this pic last night...

What on earth could be cuter than an opossum? Maybe a lil baby possum...eating...a TOAD? Ugh, I had a shudder deep within me for a while after viewing such a sight.
My mother looked at it later and coos "ooh, it's so CUTE! We should put it in a cage..." Yeah, right. Opussums are icky enough, without the whole toad thing.
Once we saw one waddle to the middle of the road (at night) to drag off one that had just been hit by a car--presumably to eat it. Disgusting.
{end of hateful rant}

“I saw well why the gods do not speak to us openly, not let us answer. Till that word can be dug out of us, why should they hear the babble that we think we mean? How can they meet us face to face till we have faces?
~from Till We Have Faces by C. S. Lewis

Phone conversations that last two hours and fourty-ish minutes are tiring...but beneficial. And in this case, thought-provoking and fascinating.
I'm sooo sleepy again. Stress: GO AWAY!

I'm so tired...so absolutely tired. In fact, weary might be a better word to describe it.

Memoirs of a Geisha is a lush, heartbreaking, bittersweet film. It left me with a rather empty feeling, despite all of the beautiful images.
I would recommend it for those who desire a visual-masterpiece, a taste of another world {yet still within our world}, and fascinating storyline.
Brilliant score by John Williams as well, featuring Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman.

"The heart dies a slow death, shedding each hope like leaves, until one day there are none, no hopes: nothing remains." ~Memoirs of a Geisha

Ah, few things do I like better than having a few hours to spend in a Barnes and Noble! I went with a fellow bookworm, which always makes things more interesting. We stayed two hours, then briefly browsed other stores...B&N was much more interesting than the others.
At B&N, I read the poems: The Other Two (I would highly recommend this), The Bee Meeting, The Arrival of the Bee Box, Stings, The Swarm, and Wintering by Sylvia Plath--anything having to do with bees immediately catches my eye! Oh, and Euthanasia by Byron.
Then I went through all the Maurice Sendak books they had; my friend and I read a few of them in the children's section, how adult of us, lol. Those I read: Where the Wild Things Are (the all-time classic), Very Far Away (super cute), Chicken Soup With Rice, and The Night Kitchen (strikes me as somewhat whimsical). I guess I could just use the excuse of 'checking them out for my future children' for reading them...;-)
Also, I bought Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens and got a delicious venti toffee nut latte, and bought a skirt elsewhere. Definitely an ideal way to spend an afternoon. I love summer. But how long can it last?

Quite the weekend. Shall I attempt to brief you?
Thursday: My friend's senior recital...that went well, minus one extremely embarrassing moment, thanks to my mother...lol. At least I was able to keep my mouth shut while it lasted.

Friday: Road rally...we did an insane amount of running! Our team came in 7th, but at least we got tons of exercise AND had a blast!!! Two girls and two guys on my team, plus a driver & myself; I'd say we all did well enough together, and kept good attitudes. =) Afterwards, a friend and I went out for ice cream (I got a raspberry shake...shock and awe, I know) which was well deserved after everything, hehe. I expected to fall asleep right after going to bed, after all the activity, but alas: two hours later..........*sighs* what's with me and insomnia lately? We make very poor bedfellows.

Saturday: The homeschool graduation ceremony. I knew several people graduating, so I'm glad I was able to go. Oddly enough, I was happy sitting in the audience instead of being part of it! I enjoy the role of rebel, apparently...
A friend that graduated put her cap and gown on me, and I got my picture taken--then a bunch of other girls clapped and cheered for me, lol it was really sweet of them. :-) Now it looks (from the picture) like I really did the ceremony! Now that's what I call cheating. ;-)
Once all that was over with, I went to Starbucks with a friend (mmm) then headed over to her graduation party. Wow, talk about the social event of the year! I knew sooo many people there, so it was lots of fun gabbing with all sorts of people. The food was great, too. Man, I went home worn out! (as I did the night previous, and the night following!)

Sunday: Church, shopping with my mom, then another graduation party. This one was smaller, but still very enjoyable. I joked/talked with quite a few peers (lol, sounds dumb to put it that way) and later on we had a bonfire, s'mores, sparklers, you name it.
I put my foot in my mouth at least a dozen or two times over all *ahem* but what can I say? (and no, I'm not speaking literally) 'Tis one of my few talents. :-P
And now, now it is Monday...and I'm home alone, with limited plans! I must say, I've been enjoying it. Yes indeed.
I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?
